New Gig Concept - Playhouse Bar ‘New Reasons to Make Noise’
Please read this copied and pasted description of the new night, and follow the link at the bottom to make contact:
New Reasons To Make Noise
The Playhouse Bar is an arts and music bar based in Norwich. As part of our new programme of events we are commissioning a series of evening events called ‘New Reasons To Make Noise’. NRMTMN is a new night where we invite bands or musicians from around the country and beyond to compose and perform a new soundtrack to a film of their choice. The original film is played, with subtitles taking the place of the original audio. The new music offers an new perspective on the film and the opportunity to see a soundtrack being played live.
Fee:
• £100 flat fee. There is no provision for travel expenses or other expense incurred. We do welcome applications from bands who are looking to add an unusual gig to their tours.
Requirements:
• Band/Musicians must be able to play in a seated capacity (to allow the audience to see the screen
• The performers must own the film they wish to perform on DVD
• Proposals need to be submitted with the following information
1. Name of band, link to soundcloud and/or a copy of your latest release
2. Brief history of gigs, performances, projects or colloborations
3. An explanation of how you would soundtrack the film, would you play continously or just on specific scenes
4. The number of people involved in the performance
To find out more or to email a proposal, email luke.m.emery@gmail.com. Alternatively get in touch by post here: FAO Luke Emery, 42-58 St George St, Playhouse Bar, Norwich, NR3 1AB.
Please Note: This is an ongoing commission.
SO, WHAT IS THE PLAYHOUSE?
The Playhouse itself is a theatre that gets most of the good comedy that comes through Norwich, but they also runs many shows in the bar area, with a lively vibe down in part to its proximity to the Art School and the City Centre.
